August 2019
God gave me another family when He put these people in my life.
Holy wow I can't believe we're already in September and August is behind us. It definitely doesn't feel real. it feels like summer just started and we all just arrived to start DTS. But then again, it feels like we have lived a lifetime in the past 3 months.

Time is a weird and funny thing.
August was such a full month of making deeper connections with new friends, getting ready for outreach, and learning in a deeper way how much God loves having an intimate relationship with me.
Here at YWAM Salem, I have found such deep profound amazing friendships. These people welcome me and accept me with open arms. They love me for who I am, yet they continually challenge me to go deeper with God and they don't let me stay stagnant in my growth with God. There's nothing I could do that would cause these people to love me any less, and that is so incredibly freeing.

a few weekends ago the entire YWAM Salem base had a beach day. We made the hour drive to the coast and hung out all day. We had all packed a lunch, we played games in the sand, and made memories. A few of us had decided to stay later, so someone brought their guitar and we had worship as the sun set. It really was an amazing day filled with connection with each other and with God.

I was able to go home for a quick visit a few weekends ago and it honestly was so amazing. It was so weird to leave YWAM after so many months of being there and go back to what was familiar. While it was weird, it also was really special to be able to see so many of my friends and family. I wish I could have seen everyone, but I was there for such a short time. I was able to take Brielle with me, one of my closest friends on my DTS, and show her a lot of my favorite spots. We were also able to stay in my old place and that made my heart so so happy.
On our way back home to Salem we stopped at Pike's place and explored all over and took way to many photos. Honestly, it was simply amazing to go home for a quick minute.

One of the last things I did in August was a trip to Portland for a Sunday. A few of my friends and I headed out early in the morning for church, and then we hung out and explored downtown and the farmer's market. In the evening we went to this church service called Bridgetown, and it was absolutely amazing. It was held in this old, old church that honestly was like a cathedral. It was incredibly beautiful. The service was amazing, and it was honestly just so much fun being with some of my best friends worshiping God all together.

As I'm writing this I'm sitting in the airport in San Francisco getting ready to board for our flight to Munich, which from there we will fly to Athens. I can't believe that this is all actually happening, but here we are! God is so good, and life is an adventure when you let God lead your life!

A few things myself and my team could use prayer for:
Continued unity. As we go through this season of being in a new culture and focused ministry, unity within the team is going to be so important but also something that we are going to have to fight for.
Finances are tight, and there are a few bills that I haven't gotten covered yet, but God is good and will provide like He has always done.
and last but not least, strength. We are doing a lot of traveling, and we're going to be experiencing new and also hard things. So we're going to need strength not only physically, but also emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.
thank you all so much for reading through all of this and following along my journey of letting God write my story. You gotta watch out when you let God write your story, He will take you on an adventure. gosh you guys, I'm so excited to see all that God is going to do while I'm overseas!
xx, alexis
