stepping into a new adventure

one year ago today I was leaving on what was then the biggest adventure of my life. I was flying overseas on my outreach to spend a month in Athens, Greece, and then a month in Durres, Albania. that trip and those places changed my life forever.

and here I go again

God has yet again invited me into what is going to be an incredible adventure with Him. In 9 days the Fall Discipleship Training School (DTS) will start and I am one of the staff for the school! I honestly can't believe it! Staffing DTS' is one of the reasons God brought me to YWAM Salem, and here I am 6 months after I got here, 1 year after my own outreach!

I have an insane amount of excitement for this next season where I know I am going to be grown, challenged, and pushed. I am so deeply excited to meet each of the students and to be able to run alongside them during these next few months of going deeper with God and discovering their identity in Him. I can't wait to see the work God does in them and in me, and how His Spirit is going to move this fall during Lecture Phase, and then this winter during Outreach!

these are the incredible people I get to staff the school with! we already have such a fun dynamic between us all, and I'm so excited to see how His Spirit moves through us and I'm honored that God has given me these precious humans as teammates!

It goes from left to right: Alec, Summer, Me, Andrew, Kari, Casey, and Amos!

I will be moving into the dorms this next week, and just doing all the things to get ready for the students. We definitely could use your prayers as we get closer to the start of the school! We're figuring out what outreach is going to look like for this winter, getting ready for a 2-week quarantine (definitely not looking forward to that), and just the whirlwind of staffing a school for my very first time! There's so much I don't know, but I'm so ready to learn all the things!

P r a c t i c a l l y -

I will be having one-on-ones with some of the girls in the school, leading a small group, and preparing for outreach among other things. I will need to raise the money needed for traveling on outreach for myself as well as money for ministry. Then I will be co-leading a 2-month outreach (hopefully overseas!). So with all of that, I definitely would love your prayers!

(see what I did there) ;)

To kinda recap this summer; it was absolutely incredible!! I went on so many adventures and made so many memories. We had so many campfires where we would just all hang out and talk and laugh. I went on a few hikes and even went backpacking for the first time. Let me tell y'all something. backpacking is SO incredible! I never knew what I was missing out on, and now that I've gone once, I want to go so much more!! It was so amazing to get away for the weekend with some of my close friends, and just hang out and explore God's beautiful creation. We, my friends and I, also went swimming so dang much! There's a lake less than 10 minutes away from our base, and we went there so many times during the week after work, and then on the weekend as well!

All that to say, God blessed me with an amazing summer and gave me some really solid friendships that I cherish so deeply.

To everyone who has continued to support me, love me, connect with me: thank you. moving to a new state is hard, let alone during a pandemic. But God is good and has taken such good care of me! I think I've said that I'm excited about this next season at least a dozen times, but it's the honest truth! God is going to do so much, and I'll be sure to try to keep y'all in the loop!

love you all so much!
x, Alexis
