I went to Brazil and back, but the adventure doesn't stop there

 November 2 2021 //

A lot has happened in the last few months, and lately I’ve been super grateful and, honestly, blown away that I am in missions. I’m continually reminded of how this is a dream come true for little 6 year-old Lex, and it makes every day such an honor to just simply be on my base doing all the different things I do. I wanted to send you an update on the many things I’ve been up to these last few months because there’s been a lot of good, challenges, growth, and fun!

Spring and Summer

This spring I had the opportunity to take YWAM Salem’s Foundation of Counseling Ministry (FCM) school. I learned a bunch of counseling tools, all the while processing and healing through some of my own painful past. I had a lot of personal breakthrough from some lies that I was believing, which in turn was affecting how I lived my life. Praise God! Over the summer I spent two glorious months in Brazil, where I got to put into practice all the things I learned. It was an absolutely incredible time where I was challenged, had to work through more of my own things, and got to help others walk through some of their painful things. It was such an honor to be able to love the people of Brazil in such an impactful way. I also made some incredible friends there!!

And now?

The FCM was this last spring and summer. We are well into fall, and now I'm co-leading our facilities department currently for the Fall quarter. It's a big responsibility; I'm in charge of maintaining our 35 acres and all the buildings on base while leading and championing my team. This quarter my department is the biggest department, ranging from 5 to 15 people depending on the day. Since I stepped into this role about 2 months ago, I have been a part of quite a few major projects, and what feels like a thousand little projects. It keeps me on my toes and honestly, even though it’s challenging, it’s a lot of fun!! I had a feeling I would love this specific role, but I can now safely say that I love it so much!

On a different note, God has been speaking to me a lot about missions and what He has for me to do, and I'm excited to be doing this adventure with Him. I'm currently taking a bible class, where I'm learning to study the Bible inductively and deeper. I've been painting a lot, and I'm teaching/leading the fall DTS in their intercession morning. I have such a deep heart for intercessory prayer, and God has been doing so much through it lately!!

y’all. in short. God is so good, and my life is far from being boring. Every day is a new day to glorify Him and to bring heaven to earth and it’s deeply cool that I get to do that alongside my friends!! I’ve included a few random photos from different projects we have done around the base! This last week I got to be a mechanic and work on one of our 15-passenger vans, and to put it simply I was super excited!! It was challenging, and I hit some hurdles, but it was so much fun!

While fall isn't my favorite season by far (I love spring and summer so much), I’ve been making quite a few special memories with my friends. I’m so thankful for this base, and for the people that I've become family with here. I had no idea what friendships I would create when I got here, but with each passing day, week, and month, I'm more and more grateful for YWAM Salem.

It’s wild to think that two ½ years ago I was a DTS student. I remember watching YWAM Salem take their yearly staff photo, and I remember I told myself that the following year I would be in the photo. And sure enough, I was. And now, I've been in 2 of the staff photos, and this year I had the honor of taking it. As I said, it’s so wild what a little over 2 years can do.

This is our 2021 staff photo and most of my YWAM Salem family!

Practically

Leading the facilities department is a big task, and I want to steward it well. I could use prayer for wisdom and discernment, and then also capacity and strength to be able to keep doing things well.

I don’t like making a big deal of my practical needs, rather I like keeping them pretty private and letting God move and provide.

So with that, I’m not going to go into detail, however, I have some practical financial needs. So if you would like to help support me in that, my paypal is at the bottom, or you can reach out to me (of which I would LOVE because I love to connect with my known people and new people!). I’m getting ready to start support raising as well since over the last few months I have lost some supporters and I'm also wanting to do some different ministry things in the next couple of months, so if you would like to start supporting me each month, please reach out! It is always an immense honor when someone joins my support team :)

thank you from the bottom of my heart for staying around for my journey in missions! It's been so rewarding to be able to do all these different things for God's kingdom, and I couldn't do it without you! And I mean that from the bottom of my heart!

love you all!
